Endometriosis is a chronic, systemic condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, causing widespread inflammation and pain. It affects at least one in ten people assigned female at birth and often takes an average of 7-10 years to diagnose. Symptoms include pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during or after intercourse, excessive bleeding, fatigue, infertility, and urinary issues such as frequent urination or pain during urination.
